On June 19, 2026, the West Ukrainian National University and the Research Institute of Intelligent Computer Systems (ICS) hosted Professor Carsten Wolff (Honorary Doctor of WUNU), Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Germany, a specialist in the field of computing and project management.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held with the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of WUNU, Ulyana Koruts, during which the prospects for further cooperation between the universities and the development of joint educational and research initiatives were discussed.
During the visit, special attention was paid to working meetings and consultations within the framework of scientific research implemented at ICS. In particular, approaches to the application of intelligent data analysis methods to increase the efficiency of monitoring renewable energy facilities were discussed with the research group of Lesia Dubchak, with the participation of graduate student Maksym Palka. At an online meeting with the AI-Driven Ecology research group, with the participation of Leonid Bytsiura, Natalia Dzyubanovska and Maksym Soroka, the potential of using artificial intelligence and geographic information systems for environmental monitoring, data analysis and decision-making support in the environmental protection sector was considered.
As part of the visit, working meetings were held dedicated to the implementation of international research and academic projects. In particular, the project “Data-Driven Strategies for Intelligent Resilient Renewable Energy Systems Under Wartime Conditions” was discussed with Anatoliy Sachenko, Lesia Dubchak and Leonid Bytsiura. A number of issues related to the implementation of the project “UA4PIM: Project and Innovation Management for Ukraine” were discussed with Anatoliy Sachenko, Iryna Turchenko and Mykhailo Dombrovsky.
At the end of the visit, a city tour was held with the participation of Lesya Dubchak, Maksym Palka and Oksana Karpinska.
