On May 21–22, 2026, the Department of Information and Computing Systems and Management of the Faculty of Computer Information Technologies of WUNU hosted the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists “ICSPM 2026: Intelligent Computing Systems and Project Management”, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the West Ukrainian National University.
The conference brought together participants from 13 countries, becoming an international scientific and communication platform for the exchange of research results, ideas and practical developments in the field of intelligent computing systems, software technologies, artificial intelligence, data analysis, digital technologies, cybersecurity and project management.
As part of the conference, a plenary session was held on May 21 with the participation of Ukrainian and foreign scientists, teachers, experts and young researchers. The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Information Technologies of the West Ukrainian National University, Ihor Yakymenko, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of developing international scientific cooperation, supporting young researchers, and introducing modern digital technologies into science and education. Representatives of higher education institutions and scientific institutions from Ukraine (Inna Chaykovska, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Professor of the Department of Economics, Analytics, Modeling and Information Technologies in Business, Head of the Scientific Society of Students and Young Scientists, Khmelnytskyi National University), Germany (Carsten Wolf, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts; Nelly Ukhova, Dresden University of Technology, CIDS – Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences), Poland (Dariusz BOBER, University of Rzeszów, Grupa Maspex), Pakistan (M. Majid KHAN, COMSATS University in Islamabad) and Azerbaijan (Elvin Majidov, private expert on customs relations and international cooperation projects) joined the scientific discussion.
The conference program covered relevant areas of modern IT science: intelligent computing and software systems, project-oriented management, decision-making processes, artificial intelligence, data analysis and cybernetics, applied technologies and information and communication systems, digital transformation, cybersecurity, IT-oriented innovations, as well as the use of modern information technologies in economics, law and education.
During the sectional meetings, participants presented the results of research on the application of neural networks, RAG agents, transformative models, IoT systems, intelligent control systems, digital educational technologies and other modern solutions. Discussion of the reports contributed to the active exchange of ideas between students, young scientists, teachers and practitioners.
A separate component of the conference was the international scientific workshop ICSPM-WS 2026, which took place on May 22 in a mixed format. The Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the West Ukrainian National University, Mykola Dyvak, addressed the workshop participants with greetings and wishes for fruitful work, as well as the Director of the International Center for Culture and Development, Olga Tsaryk, delivered a welcoming speech. The workshop focused on intelligent computing systems, project management, cybersecurity, AI-oriented approaches, cloud architectures, navigation technologies, and digital decision-making support tools. Along with reports by scientists from various higher education institutions in Ukraine, the workshop also featured speeches by international experts. In particular, Mike Richardson (Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM), Germany), an invited scientist, delivered a report entitled “Infrastructure Obeys the Laws of Physics: Systems Engineering in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Stakeholder Ruslan Savchyshyn, investor and founder of the MagneticOne Group, also joined the workshop.
The support of partners and sponsors of the event played an important role in the organization and holding of the conference. The financial sponsor of the conference was the Scientific Research Institute of Intelligent Computer Systems. Technical support was provided by Infineon Technologies, MagneticOne Group, IEEE WUNU Student Branch and IEEE Ukraine Section I&M / CI Joint Societies Chapter.
A special event of ICSPM-WS 2026 was the introduction of a special award from the financial sponsor – the Scientific Research Institute of Intelligent Computer Systems, whose director is Anatoliy Sachenko – for the author of the best scientific paper. The winner will receive an exemption from the registration fee and the opportunity to publish their scientific paper free of charge at the XIV International Conference IEEE IDAACS 2027, which will be held on September 22–25, 2027 in Athens (Greece).
The conference became an important event in the scientific life of the Department of Computer Information Technologies and the Faculty of Computer Information Technologies and contributed to the strengthening of international academic cooperation of the West Ukrainian National University.
The Department of Computer Information Technologies expresses its sincere gratitude for the support of the initiative of the university administration, as well as to all participants, speakers, moderators, members of the program and organizational committees, financial and technical sponsors for their active participation, meaningful reports and contribution to the successful holding of the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference ICSPM 2026.
