During September 12-14, 2013 the 7th IEEE International conference “Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computer Systems” IDAACS’13 was held at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin. A total number of participants was above 185, from 28 countries. There were 16 topics and 7 special streams, which were formed as 3 plenary sessions, 24 regular sessions and 3 poster sessions. Following the conference results a collection of materials was published in the two volumes book, which contains 185 articles. These proceedings will be included in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library as well as  Web of Science and Scopus. More information can be found on the conference website: http://www.idaacs.net.

All sessions were running for 3 days. On Thursday September 12, at the main hall of Building H an official opening was held by Prof. Sachenko, Matthias Knaut,  a Vice-President of HTW Berlin, and Prof. Juergen Sieck. Then there was a plenary speech held by Prof.Hermann He?ling, HTW Berlin, entitled “The Challenge of Managing and Analysing Big Data”. There were run the 4 parallel sessions in the morning  and the 4 parallel sessions in the afternoon, where were  presented the 40 papers totally. At the end of the day a poster session took place, which has gathered around 20 posters. Also on Thursday evening participants had a great opportunity to watch Berlin landscapes, being on boat that was launched  for 2 hours  sailing on the Spree River  from Conference venue to downtown.

On Friday September 13, the day started with a plenary session, where Prof. Wolfgang Gentzsch, Executive HPC Consultant, Germany has made a presentation “Paving the way to HPC as a Service – The UberCloud HPC Experiment”.  Then there were run  the  4 parallel sessions in the morning , and the 4 parallel sessions early  afternoon and the 4 parallel sessions  late afternoon, where participants presented 60 papers. Also a poster session took place and gathered 21 papers. In the evening participants gathered at conference dinner with a cultural program, which was held at Freiheit 15 restaurant located in attractive Kopenik district.

On Saturday September 14 morning the last plenary session was held, where Prof. Serge Demidenko, Director of the Centre for Technology in Saigon, Vietnam and the Director of Communication and Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, has made a presentation“Taming the Electronic Beast: New and Not-so-New Problems in Modern Semiconductor Testing”. Then the 4 parallel sessions took place, where 20 papers were presented, and a  poster session with 20 posters in total. Also a round table was held where session chairs discussed ways of improving the technical program structure and content. According to IDAACS tradition, Prof. Anatoly Sachenko and Dr. Volodymyr Turchenko awarded plenary and regular session chairs with souvenirs. Prof. Anatoly Sachenko thanked all the sponsors and informed that extended versions of selected papers – based on presentations evaluation by session chairs –  will be published:

(i) by River Publishers in two books, the Guest-Editors of the first book  are Vladimir Haasz and Kurosh Madani, and the Guest-Editors of the  second book are Richard Duro and Yuri Kondratenko(in addition, River Publishers will award the best five papers and send free five books to corresponding authors at request), and

(ii) by Elsevier Journal “Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence”, and

(iii) by Journal of Cyber Security and Mobility, Guest Editors are Igor Kotenko and George Markowsky),

(iv) by Sensors & Transducers Journal and International Journal of Computing respectively.

Then Prof. Juergen Sieck presented a venue for Satellite Symposium on Wireless Systems IDAACS-SWS’2014: the Odessa Polytechnic University,  Odessa, Ukraine, and Prof. Wieslaw Winiecki presented a venue for the next conference IDAACS’2015: Warsaw Polytechnic, Warsaw, Poland. Finally Prof. Anatoly Sachenko and Prof. Juergen Sieck concluded the main conference outcomes, thanked to all participants and sponsors and officially closed the conference.
