During February 24-25, Prof. Dan Cristea, head of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computer Science at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iasi city, Romania, and graduate student Andrew Skutelnits of the same university, both has visited TNEU, Research Institute for Intelligent Computer Systems (RIICS) and Information and Measurement Systems and Control (IMSC) department in particular.
During the visit, Prof. Cristea had a meeting the TNEU administration where both sides discussed the MOU (memorandum of understanding). Also during the visit, the guests got acquainted with the practices of the RIICS, there was presentation of it’s administration and staff, including Prof. V. Kochan, Prof. A. Sachenko, PhD V. Turchenko, PhD V. Koval and other research groups, including a Group of Precision Measuring Systems, Intelligent Distributed Systems and Cyber Security, Intelligent Sensor Data Acquisition, Intelligent Robotic Systems, Neural Networks and Parallel Computing Technologies, Knowledge Bases and Ontologies, Information Technology and Specialized Computer Systems, Verification and Certification, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition , Complex Systems Cybernetics, Wireless Networks Security.
Prof. Cristea also held a presentation titled “How to combine the teaching and research” for RIICS and IMSC staff, in which he talked about his ways of teaching and researching, also the subject of his research, namely: workflow for natural language processing, discourse structure, additional discourse parsing and the relationship between structure and reference, anaphora permission, cognitive aspects of language, computational lexicography, his own developments and research directions of his department. Later guests visited the research seminar where PhD student Olexiy Roshchupkin presented his PhD thesis titled “Neural network method for improve the accuracy of the ultraviolet information-measuring systems. Fulbright Professor Robert Hiromoto took part in discussion of presentation.
