Brief Biography of Dick Morley

Richard E. Morley (December 1, 1932 – October 17, 2017) was an American technologist who was
considered one of the "fathers" of the programmable logic controller (PLC) since he was involved with
the production of the first PLC for General Motors, the Modicon, at Bedford and Associates in 1968. The
Modicon brand of PLC is now owned by Schneider Electric. The PLC has been recognized as a significant
advancement in the practice of automation and has an important influence on manufacturing industry.

He was born in Clinton, Massachusetts, in 1932 and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
where he studied physics.

Dick Morley was an inventor, machinist, author, consultant and engineer, his peers have acknowledged
his contributions with numerous awards from groups such as the International Society of Automation
(ISA), the Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society, Inc. magazine, the Franklin Institute, the
Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the Engineering Society of Detroit. He was also inducted
into the Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

SME offers the Richard E. Morley Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award for outstanding
technical accomplishments in the manufacturing profession by engineers age 35 and under. Dick Morley
worked out of his barn in New Hampshire where he and his wife had provided a home to 40 foster
children. He died on October 17, 2017, in New Hampshire.

ICS TNEU Team, leaded by Prof. Anatoliy Sachenko will take a part in a new project EPPKA2 “Cross-domain competences for healthy and safe work in the 21st century” within Programme EPPKA2 - Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, which was selected for funding in 962,975.00 Euro

Project proposal within NRFU Competition

A new project proposal entitled Intelligent Information Technology of Big Data Collecting and Processing for Intrusion Detection in Cyberphysical Systems has applied recently within NRFU Competition "Leading and Young Scientists Research Support", the competition of collective projects on fundamental and applied research and developments, Ukraine. This proposal has prepared by the ICS  team, Anatoliy Sachenko, Myroslav Komar, Vitaly Dorosh in a collaboration with other four organizations of the  Consortium: VIKTOR Glushkov Institute of Cybernetic, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National Aerospace University "Kharkiv aviation institute", Khmelnitsky National University, and Lviv Polytechnic National University. Prof. Anatoliy Sachenko is a Principal Investigator of this project.

 
International IEEE Conference DESSERT 2020

Dr Oleksandr Osolinskyi  presented a paper Development of the Flexible Traffic Control System Using the LabView and ThingSpeak by Anatoliy Sachenko, Oleksandr Osolinskyi, Maciej Dobrowolski, Pavlo Bykovyy and Volodymyr Kochan  at the 11th International IEEE Conference on Dependable Systems, Services and Technologies DESSERT'2020, which was held  online on May 14-18, 2020 in Kyiv, Ukraine, http://dessert.ieee.org.ua/. Prof. Anatoliy Sachenko moderated a session DIS – Dependable Internet of Things, Smart Systems and Embedded Technologies.  DESSERT'2020 Conference Proceedings will be indexed by IEEE Data Explore and Scopus afterwards.
