On March 24, the walls of our university became a platform for discussing innovations and scientific and technological development – a hybrid meeting of the IEEE Student Branch of the West Ukrainian National University was held in video-conference room 11103. The participants of the event focused on strategic plans for the branch’s development, discussing future projects, and expanding opportunities for professional growth of young specialists and scientists within the international community.
The student branch was established in 1998 and has now received a second wind. Today, the student branch unites 12 proactive students and postgraduates of various courses and specialties of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies who seek to develop in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer science.
The meeting was initiated by Prof. Anatoliy Sachenko – advisor to the branch with the assistance of Assoc. Prof. Pavlo Bykovyy – head of the IEEE Department of Measurements/Instrumentation and Computational Intelligence. Assoc. Prof. Lesia Dubchak – Head of the Department of Computer Engineering was also invited to the meeting. During the meeting, the branch members elected a new Executive Committee of the branch, which will manage the activities of the branch in the current year. It includes:
• Branch Head: Vitaliy Leus, 4th year Computer Science student
• Deputy Head: Oksana Karpinska, 2nd year Computer Engineering student
• Treasurer: Maksym Palka, 1st year Computer Science graduate student
• Secretary: Solomiya Marchuk, 1st year Cybersecurity student
The branch’s work is supervised and scientific support for initiatives is provided by the Branch Advisor – Prof. Anatoliy Sachenko and the Research Institute of Intelligent Computer Systems in cooperation with the Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue and inspiration, outlining the plan of activities of the IEEE Student Branch of WUNU and its Executive Committee for the current year. We invite proactive and motivated students and postgraduates of WUNU to join our family!
